HEIC on Windows

iPhone photos in your Windows folders. Not in a cloud library.

Picca catalogues HEIC, HEIF and HIF stills next to JPEG, RAW and video. Files stay where you copied them from the phone. Tag and search them like everything else.

  • .heic .heif .hif
  • Plus JPEG, RAW, video
  • No import silo
  • 7-day full trial

HEIC decoding uses Windows, not a Picca cloud

Picca reads HEIC through Windows Imaging Component. If a file will not open, install HEIF Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store. Many iPhone stills also need HEVC Video Extensions (the free OEM version is fine).

  • Stills stay in your folders — nothing is converted unless you do that yourself
  • Camera RAW (Nikon, Canon, Fuji) uses the embedded JPEG preview
  • Video clips are indexed alongside stills
  • Look-alike search skips videos

Before you open the Store

Can Picca open HEIC files on Windows?

Yes, from your folders. You may need HEIF Image Extensions, and often HEVC Video Extensions, from the Microsoft Store.

Does Picca convert HEIC to JPEG?

No. Files stay where they are. Picca does not import them into a proprietary library.

Does it also handle RAW and video?

Yes. Common stills, Nikon/Canon/Fuji RAW, and types such as MP4, MOV and MKV share one catalogue.
